Home > Auckland Tourism > Coast To Coast Eco Tours

The Coast to Coast Eco Tour is an activity you really must take part in.

Owned and operated by Stuart and Donna Hamilton who's family have owned Motutara Homestead and farm since 1922, you can be sure their knowledge of the area is first class.

Coast2coast Stuart and Donna

This is a relaxed way to experience first hand the nature, culture, conservation and environmmental aspects of the great NZ lifestyle of the West Auckland countryside, and you can be sure the Hamiltons will treat you as good friends rather than tourists.

Your day starts at 9:30 in the Auckland CBD where you will be picked up by one of the luxurious Coast to Coast air conditioned mini coaches.

From there you will head out of Auckland City and into the surrounding countryside to start your tour of the local attractions.

You will visit the Waitakere Rainforest and be shown around the Arataki Visitors Information Centre.

Then you can browse around a craft market called Craftworld, where you will be able to purchase first class New Zealand Products.

Don't worry about where to stop for lunch. Stuart and Donna have thought of everything to make your experience stress free and memorable. You'll be stopping at one of the best lunch restaurants in the area where you'll delight in the first class menu on offer.

Then it's off to an award winning winery for the Wine Tasting Experience followed by Beesonline honey centre, home to the finest, pure, Active Manuka Honey, which of course you are invited to sample.

The Coast 2 Coast tour then takes you to the rugged west coast where you will visit the gannet colony and Muriwai Beach with it's famous black iron sands.

From there it's a short drive to the Hamilton's Historic Motutara Homestead and farm where you will receive a traditional warm Maori welcome.

After your tour around Donna and Stuart's home you can walk through their native New Zealand Garden to the woolshed where there is a display on wool and New Zealand sheep farming and you'll be able to pet and feed the sheep and other animals.

Don't miss out on the unique opportunity to purchase and plant your own carbon credit Native tree for the farm's forest reserve.

By now you'll be ready to relax a little so head over to the Homestead to freshen up and enjoy the traditional homemade afternoon tea that's been prepared for you in Donna's kitchen and discover her recipe for Pavlova, New Zealand's most famous dessert !

After tea, at the end of a wonderful day with the Hamiltons, you will be taken back to Auckland where you will arrive around 18:00.

So there's still time to see the night life of Auckland, if you have any energy left !
