Looking for things to do in Auckland ?
Auckland Museum is one of the top Auckland tourist attractions. It's a great day out for the whole family that you've just got to see.
Situated in the Domain Park, the Auckland War Memorial Museum has great views across the city to Waitemata Harbour and Rangitoto Island.
There's loads to keep everybody happy and kids of all ages will have a great time in the Discovery centres where they get to interact with all the activities.
Children can actually see, smell and touch live animals and plants, watch bees in a glass hive, play with musical instruments from around the world, dress up and make as much noise as they want to - all in a safe environment !
You'll find a whole range of exciting exhibits covering the history and geography of New Zealand and the rich culture and lifestyle of the Maori people.
With so much to discover in the museum, such as arts and crafts and New Zealand's unique animals, there's plenty to keep everyone occupied.
The Museum is also a war memorial remembering New Zealanders at war, from the Maori wars, through both world wars to more recent conflicts and the current role of New Zealand as peace keepers.
The Maori culture show runs three times a day and is well worth taking the time to see......
......after all that when you're feeling a bit tired, take a seat in the Columbus Cafe in the Atrium for a great meal and refreshments !
The museum is open to the public every day (from 10am to 5pm) except for Christmas day and Anzacs morning.
Entrance is by voluntary donation at a suggested NZ$5- per adult, so it doesn't have to be expensive to have a good day out in Auckland.
